she wasn't a whore, oh no. she only had sex with guys she deemed worthy. they had to give her something in return so to speak before she consider giving herself to him. usually it was a stimulating conversation, or maybe something to cure her loneliness, and even more rare, they were just really good in bed. averi hadn't met much of those types of guys, but the ones she had, were way too full of themselves to even go back for seconds. she was the kind of girl that would stick to one guy if they weren't needy or annoying, but again, they needed to offer her something in return. just looking good didn't cut it for her either. she'd usually bail though after the third encounter, just because feeling would usually get involved and she wanted to be the first to leave so she wouldn't have to deal with the same heartbreak her mother had to go through her whole life. averi was all about rising above. who needed a guy anyways. though single life did get boring and repetitive sometimes.
writing another line of lyrics, she stopped, putting the pen cap to her lip, thinking. her brain hurt. she took a sip of her drink. a glass of water. it was too early to start drinking, thought she had full access to a bar just a few feet away. and she knew a very capable bartender. she hummed to herself the melody she was thinking of for the lyrics. best song ever. well at least thought it was going to be. | [atrb=width,140] words ,

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,350,true] | [atrb=background,http://i54.tinypic.com/1twhdz.jpg] Hands shoved into the pockets of his khaki shorts. Roman strolled along the sidewalk, he had no real destination, nothing was planned. He was just out and about, experiencing the day, granted he should be at his shop cleaning up on a Ford GT Mustang, but he had told his client that it would take two or three days. Truth be told he, if he spend all hours of the day laboring over it, he could finish it and have it ready for pick up tomorrow. The man had time to kill. So he had lied to the car's owner, sue him; if the man wanted it done good it would in fact take a good two days. Mechanics should love what they do and allow themselves a few days to just work on a beautiful car.
His eyes were focused on the pavement in front of his feet, but movement from a window snatched his attention. It had just been a waiter who nearly dropped a tray of dirty plates and smudged metal utensils. He laughed shortly at himself; sometimes it shocked him that he had such a large caring complex. Nearly every single person he met could comment on his concerns for them, mostly over the younger women. It must have been a side effect of being a gentleman. Finishing his self mocking with a small sigh, puppy dog brown eyes trailed up to read the name of the place. Dark eyebrows furrowed and then rose in curiosity and realization. He knew a waitress that worked there, a white toothed grin appeared over his features. Dropping in for a hello would be nice, right?
His hands slip from their perch in his pockets and one gripped around the handle and pulled it open. As he stepped inside a thought dawned on him. How was he to now if she was evening working right now? He froze and let his sights scan around the tables before adjusting and taking another step. A glimpse of red hair and he moved into the restaurant more. He waved off a young blonde approaching him to offer a table. Roman casually walked over to the end of the table and smiled, glancing that the seat's occupant. Half sitting, half leaning, he rested on the end of the table and placed his palms over the edge as well. "That's a nice tune, what song is it?" His attention was on her as he grinned and rolled off to slid and sit in the booth opposite Averi.

continuing her humming, she was obviously to the things around her when she was songwriting. so she didn't hear the clumsy waiter drop every single one of the plates on the floor. nor did she hear a nearby customer order practically the whole menu. only when a figure had stopped at her table and asked her a question did she stop her humming and shut down her song writing completely. looking up, a small smile played against her lips. ramon. she said softly. this was a nice surprise for her. she didn't think she hardly seen any of her friends come to the restaurant she worked at. maybe because they were too ashamed to have a friend who was a waitress? who knows, and who cared? she chew on her bottom lip, unsure if she should really tell him what she was doing or just play it off as a song that she had heard on the radio. but she decided that lying about it would only hurt her at this point since she was unable to think about a song who had about the same melody as the one she was singing. nothing really, just something i'm writing. she slide the napkins she had been writing lyrics too into her lap so he wouldn't ask to see them. she wasn't ready for anyone to see them, let alone ramon.
she watched him slide into the booth across from her. they had been friends for awhile. he really was a nice guy, but she still wasn't convinced that guys were able to be trusted. sure, ramon did what he said he would do, but he was probably doing something else that she wasn't catching, like sleeping with multiple girls at one time, which she knew without a doubt that he wasn't doing, but she still couldn't help to think that he'd eventually break her heart along with everyone else if she let him too close to her heart. so averi had walled her heart up, letting nothing or no one get close to it. it was quiet sad, but averi managed. she wouldn't trade a heartbreak over it. ever.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,350,true] | [atrb=background,http://i54.tinypic.com/1twhdz.jpg] Rome let slip a playful and amused chuckle when she took notice of him. She had been so entranced by her thoughts that she failed to notice what was going on around her. It was cute. Sure he could admit that, they were both mature enough to handle it. Yeah, he thought she was cute. The thought planted a smile on his lips.
His eyes snapped down to the napkin under her palms. He could see the ink that was on it from her early focus. As she trailed it away and down to her lap, the man tried to catch a few of the writing. But he had not luck in that. I upset him inside that she didn't want to show him; that she didn't trust him. Though that was how Averi was, she didn't trust guys, and he knew that. With a thin and faint frown he nodded, his eyes still looking at the spot on the table where the napkin use to be. "Well, I hope I can read it when it's finished." Shaking himself of the slight concern, Roman gazed back at her face and leaned his back against the cushion that the booth offered. And honestly, he had sat in more comfortable chairs. "This was a surprise visit, I know, but it was worth seeing you." He chuckled shortly. "Though, I have to admit that I was worried that you wouldn't be here."
Part of him wished that she would just trust him. He was a great guy and he lived by the chivalry book when it can to women. Though the other part of him agreed a bit with her distrust. Hell, he could have just cam her to chat her up then take her home and have a little go round in the sheets, but that wasn't him. And she better be happy and lucky that it wasn't because some men were exactly like that. But he was here to look out and make sure that his friends didn't get bother by those types. And he wasn't the type to push anything with her wary trust.
Calloused, hard working hands laid on the smooth table top, a few of his fingers tapping a random pattern. "So, anything new Averi?" He wasn't a lair so he would admit to it being quite a bit of time since he last saw the girl. I was good to see her and exchange a few words.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][atrb=style, background-color: #423c42;,true][cs=2] & YOU'RE NOT EVEN HUMAN ` YOU'RE JUST A LOVELY IDEA OF ONE WHO I ACCIDENTALLY LOVED AND GAVE EVERYTHING TO BECOME THE GIRL ON THE PIANO BENCH SINGING ALL OF HER TEARS - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - away | [atrb=width,240] so it wasn't that roman was the only person that didn't get to see her lyrics. no one did. he probably didn't see anything that she created because she wasn't about to show something to someone and get tore down like she did with the record industry. she'd much rather go through it once when it counted instead of several times when it didn't. while her eyes watched him, she knew she had probably hurt his feeling moving the napkins in her lap. she wasn't about to let him read it. even when it was finished. they only time he would read or hear it, or anyone for that matter, would be when she was singing it at her concert, which she planned to have before she died. she might be ninety years old, but dammit she would want her concert! she'd have to plan a barbeque or something in her back yard. invite the neighborhood children or something. no one else would probably come. i doubt any one will read it when i finish. she bluntly said. she didn't mean to sound so mean, but it was the truth, and it was just the way averi worked. short of a complete personality change, this was going to be the way things were for averi for the rest of her life.
even when guys, like roman, proved that they were the exception to the rule, there were guys like antares who blew that. it was just the way things were. she secretly hoped that she'd hope she could trust guys one day, but too many times had she thought 'this one will be different' they turned out to be like every other guy around her. or if she thought he was getting to attached, she'd break things off completely before she got hurt. it was no way to live a life, but she did it everyday. a small smirk played on her lips. no, you just can't get enough of me. don't lie. she relaxed a little more after this joking manner in which she spoke. with roman, she could be her quirky self and it be alright. because they had known each other for so long, he was attuned to how she was and how she acted. well i'm here, i'm usually always here. so you got lucky. she rarely stayed home anymore. alone. it was sort of depressing and kind of sad. she only went home to feed and walk her dog most nights. nothing seemed to be so sad as eating ice cream and watching a chick flick every night. so she was out, with friends, or with antares, the bartender here. sometimes with roman. here lately she hadn't seen him. she figured that he had finally had enough, realized that averi was a mess and had left like everyone else had.
she wasn't a bitter person, but she did wonder why she had lost both of her parents at such a early age. her father had never been around, hence why she had trust issues with guys. her mother died of cancer. she was the sweetest person in the world that averi knew, she didn't deserve the heartbreak from her father and definitely didn't deserve cancer. her blue eyes wander to his fingers as they tapped on the table. a sign of boredom. great, he was two second into seeing her and he was already bored. or maybe it was a habit, like the chewing on her bottom lip. her eyes looked back up to his face as he asked her a question. she wasn't sure how to respond, because truthfully, nothing had been new for quiet sometime. um, i think the pool boy is secretly a woman. she said randomly. it probably wasn't what he meant, because she was sure he meant what was knew with her. but she rarely liked talking about herself, so this was a defense mechanism.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,350,true] | [atrb=background,http://i54.tinypic.com/1twhdz.jpg] She was a straight to the point girl, and he knew that, in fact he knew that quite well. And he was use to it. Her words weren't meant to be mean but they seemed to hint toward it. He nodded slowly to her answer of no one reading it. He wasn't going to test the waters and push her into to letting him take a look. That would be a really bad thing to do, even though he was friends with more then she would let other guys be, they still shared a friendship that lacked in trust on one side.
Rome clicked his tongue and playfully narrowed his eyes at the girl in front of him, like he was looking for something in her. A smirk hit his lips and he laughed with his slightly low voice before sighing and snapping his thumb against one of his finger. "Darn you got me. Am I really that easy to read?" Joking was good. And he was willing enough to play along. "Though, you can't get enough of me either, doll. I bet that napkin is full of my name in hearts." A smug grin graced his lips as if he knew that that was exactly was she had written on the napkin. Though, he knew with out a doubt that wasn't even close to what was on there. Averi wouldn't put any name's man in hearts. Well, as far as he knew she wouldn't.
The man liked to be with people, known to him or strangers, he didn't mind. He was fairly certain that he could strike up a conversation with anyone. He was a social guy, but not too social. Sure he could talk about nearly any subject but he also liked to listen. The sound of his own voice was okay, but he liked to hear other's. So Roman went out a lot. Hanging with out college friends, just relaxing and having a beer with Tristam, and his few nights out alone on the island. And he was proud to say that ever if he did have several women come over and flirt with him he never acted passed charming comments. There weren't many things new with him, he might as well think about his own answer as he waited for hers. His fingers still changed the pattern and he called to mind that tune she was humming earlier, and he pattered that out on the wood. No boredom, just habit. And he only tapped songs he liked or random beats.
The noise from his fingers to the table stopped and she spoke. He push his hands forward so that he had both elbows on the table. Surprised by her reply, but intrigued on her information he lift an eyebrow at her and tilt his head some. "The pool boy...right." He paused for a moment and looked at her, trying to hide a small grin as he cleared his throat. "And, uh, how to you come by this discovery?" It was meant in a light and jokingly imploring manor. The pool boy being a girl was probably a fake fact. He knew she didn't like to talk much about herself, but he ways tried to get her to open up to him.

just because averi had this secret world all her own, didn't mean she wasn't capable of human contact. it also didn't mean that she was incapable of feeling love, hurt, pain, and humor. in fact, averi compensated a lot of the weaknesses off on humor to make up for them. although she tried her hardest not to feel love or pain, she couldn't help it sometimes. it was apart of life. but what she could do was control the unnecessary love and pain. don't get close to someone, love them, and then the pain won't consume her when they leave. she matched his smirk on his lips as they joked. at another mention of the napkins, in her lap she clutched the napkins, crumpling up in her fist, but he wouldn't be able to see it. she gave a small chuckle. please, you're so full of it. i only do that to people i actually like. she gave him a small smile then. he had be out of his mind if he thought she would do that to anyone's name. averi didn't know of a single guy she had ever done that to, and she wasn't about to start now. no one had gotten her to that point. and probably, at least with this state of mind, no one ever would.
the nonsense about the pool boy was in fact true, but she only brought it up because she didn't want to talk about herself. he seemed to have taken the bite because he didn't press the fact that it wasn't about her. she smirked when he asked how she knew about it. well because, he has bigger boobs than i do and he was staring at the gardeners ass. and well, because he told me. which was all true. she wished that she could be making up something so detailed, but sadly, she was not that creative at the spur of the moment. anything new with you? beside apparently hitting your head on a step as you fell. she laughed at this. i mean to think i would write any guys name in hearts is a little insane. she took a sip of her water, remembering that she had yet to offer to get him anything to drink. but then again, manners were also not averi's strong suit. just then one of the girls averi's mildly liked walked up. Would you like something to drink sir? averi tired her best not to make faces as the girl completely looked like she was throwing herself at ramon. typical. after she had left, averi chewed her bottom lip, thinking or it was just a habit she had grew into.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,350,true] | [atrb=background,http://i54.tinypic.com/1twhdz.jpg] Rome laughed as she said he was full of it. But the second part of what she said, he let his amusement die away and he rolled his eyes. Please, she like him and she knew it. Most people liked him, or at least he thought they did. "Hey, you like me. Otherwise you probably would have gotten up and left this table if you didn't want me with you." One of his most charming smiles hung on his lips and teasingly dared her to say that she didn't like him again.
It could be true, the story surrounding the pool boy being a woman. Part of him actually believed it, but the idea and statement were just outlandish to say out loud. And his attention was fully on her as she explained the reason she knew this snippet of information. At the mention of the pool's boys boobs being bigger then her's, Roman, admittedly, had to mentally strain himself to not look at Averi's chest. If he had flickered his eyes there, she would have read into it and never trust him again. So, the mechanic just swallowed and keep his eyes on her face. But he pushed all thoughts of that from his mind as she continued. So, apparently, the gardener had a nice ass. Though that felt weird to think about since the gardener was most likely a guy. But at the last part of her information he just blinked. Her pool boy, or more pool girl, had the guts to tell her that. It was something new, and something interesting.
He was still imaging the whole pool boy deal when she turned his question back on him. Though her version had more of a joking flare; it made him smile. Rubbing his head, as if he had actually hit it, which he had a few days ago, he grinned. "For your-" He was cut off as a waitress walked over to him. And asked him the classic question of what he wanted to drink. He paused and flicked his brown eyes to Averi, noticing her expression. He rolled his eyes and looked back at the waitress who now seemed to be leaning slightly over the table, it caused him to lean away from her some. "I'll just have a water, please miss. Thanks." As she walked away, Roman looked back at his friend and chuckled as he kept his eyes on Averi. "Hey, it's not my fault that all but one girl in this restaurant thinks I'm sexy." That was probably true though. He had had more women come on to him then he would like sometimes, it bothered him sometimes too. Especially when it happened in front of friends.

averi didn't understand why people felt the need to tell her stuff. maybe it was to compensate for the stuff she didn't tell people. she didn't know, but it got really annoying, especially when it was something super personal like her pool boy or girl. she knew a lot of most random stranger than she ever wanted to know. she really should be writing a book about it, but she figured her writing abilities was best served by writing song lyrics. but if she decided to do it, her pool boy story would be inspiration. she had to make a note to get another one before she had to endure anymore embarrassing stories. he's pretty than i am. she added, frowning slightly at the comment. it was true, which was what was so depressing. that person probably had more healthy relationships than she had ever had in her entire life. in fact, she never had any. that was sad. of course she didn't expect roman to agree with that, but he was a little bias. and before you correct me, you haven't seen him so you can't say a word about me being wrong. she shot him a wink and continued to sip her water.
averi wasn't a naturally jealous person. and if roman wanted the girl, then they could have each other. she didn't care. maybe she could get some alone time to finish her lyrics and song. she rolled her eyes at him. please... you ARE full of it. if you'd like, i can leave you two alone. i'm sure she's much more stimulating than i. she furrowed her eyebrows at this, knowing exactly who she was talking about. bimbo. just make sure you get tested afterwards. averi watched him for a moment. one girl? oh, he was probably talking about her. well, that wasn't necessarily true. she did think he was sexy. but she'd never let him in on that.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,350,true] | [atrb=background,http://i54.tinypic.com/1twhdz.jpg] Check mate. Roman didn't play much chess though, but at least he got her to admit that she actually liked his company. It made him lean back in the booth some and smile in victory. It was good to hear that she decided against pushing him from her life. He grinned at the the alert system idea she offered in her words. But, whoa, five miles. Geez, had had pushed her a bit with what he said earlier didn't he? He let out a small and quick silent sigh of relief. The good thing was that it wasn't going to come to that soon. He counted her under the list of close friends, it would have hurt to sever a connect without a moment's notice.
Unlike Averi, Rome actually liked people telling him things. And he liked to see if could help with anything if they need it. In fact, in the case of her, he had secretly made it his job to possibly guide her out of this no trust in men problem. Now if he told her that's what was doing, she would surely not like it. Averi was the type of the person that liked their personal life to be completely personal. But alcohol would always make something slip out that was suppose to stay in, but he would never get the girl drunk and tipsy on purpose.
The pool boy, or girl, more pettier then her? He started to shake his head and he opened his mouth to object to what he had just heard her say. But he didn't get a chance to get one word out before she stopped him. Shutting his mouth, Rome started to get a little agitated and clenched his jaw for a nano-second before getting a relaxed composure again. True, the other person was unknown to him, but that didn't matter to him. But it did to her. Sighing he let his head hang and then lifted it to look at her, on of his hands rubbing the back of his neck. "Fine, but after I met this pool boy of yours, then I will correct what you just said." One thing that he never liked, someone saying that they weren't good enough or they aren't as pretty or as cool as someone else. He wouldn't say anything like that about himself, so why other did made him wonder.
He sighed again and hung his head at his friend's comment. He wasn't full of it, he just liked to joke over it. But when the suggestion of her leaving was brought up, he shot his head up and stared at her. He could careless about who was more stimulating. "No, your not leaving." Well, that came out more quickly and rushed then he planned it too. Clearing his throat he straightening himself and looked down for second hoping that she didn't read into it. He laughed for like the hundredth time today at one of her comments. After a moment of thinking about it, he stopped laughing and looked at her and acted playfully disgusted, with a hint of a chuckle. "Oh God Averi, you did not just make a jab at my sex life." And that was louder then he meant that to be. A few eyes from other tables strayed over to him and he lowered his voice so just Averi could "Besides, you know me, I have to be in a relationship for a while before things go that far. I'm a gentleman, remember?"

averi watched him closely. she knew he was going to object, which was why she had stopped him before he said anything. it was kind of scary how much she knew him and knew how he would react towards something she said. fair enough. she said, smirking. now it was her time to gloat, she leaned back against the booth, smirking her victory smirk. averi watched him hang his head. she sorta felt bad for making him hang it head, but he deserved it. she couldn't really think why or how he did, but she probably had done something to her before and she hadn't caught it. but then again, she knew that wasn't even the case. she thought he knew she was teasing him. but when he sternly told her that she wasn't leaving, she figured out that something was up. it was quick, too quick. what was he thinking? yeah, maybe she would have let it go until she saw him look down from her, trying to play it off. but no, why was he so adamant about her not leaving? it couldn't be that he had feelings for her, right? impossible.
she tried pushing the thoughts out of her brain, but to no avail. whoa. that was quick. i guess someone is in love with me. she smirked, trying to play off the weirdness of the situation, but looking for any hint that would confirm her thoughts. she laughed when he told her that she was making fun of his sex life, a little too loud. her blue eyes watched him as she smiled. yeah, a relationship. averi chewed on her lip. let me know if that ever changes she winked at him.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,350,true] | [atrb=background,http://i54.tinypic.com/1twhdz.jpg] He knew that Averi knew him well, so when she had stopped him from objecting he didn't take too much surprise from it. And they were good friends, they knew how each other would react to certain things. But they were only friends by words alone, neither of them had ever made any move to touch the other. That was slightly odd for how close they were.
Unfortunately, she hadn't missed a beat when he nearly snapped at her for leaving. He wasn't exactly sure why it had come out so fast, maybe it was just because he hadn't seen her recently and didn't want to cut their meeting short, or maybe for some other thing entirely. Roman wasn't about to answer that question even to himself. But when she joked that he loved her, the word made him raise an eyebrow and look at her. He wasn't confused if she was joking or not, he knew she was because she wouldn't usually bring up love seriously, the confusion was that the suggestion was one possibility for jumping the gun and saying no. He looked at her for a second and let her continue, but he rolled his eyes at her when she winked.
"Love, ha, I just didn't want to be left alone with the living bimbo Barbie. She isn't even close to my type girl. " He grinned and kept his gaze on her, trying to prove to her and himself that he had no such feelings. But someone cleared their throat and gave a sad huff close by. Rome turned his head and shock and guilt drowned his expression. The waitress was back already, holding his glass of water. He swallowed and felt trapped. "I didn't mean you- you miss." He glanced at the cup in her hand and watched as her hold on the object tightened. Realization struck his face and he back up in the booth some. "Now, you don't need to-" he got cut off by the full contents of water splashing on his face and chest. Eyes closed, Rome sighed and heard the young girl's heavy foot steps leave. Once he was sure she was gone he opened his brown eyes, his face shiny with water, some of his hair damp, and a small stripe down the front of his shirt that made it cling to his chest. Some drips falling from his nose and chin.
He flicked his eyes to Averi and grinned slightly. "Well, I got my water, just not in the way I was expecting it." A chuckle lightly rumbled out of him and he shook his head fast, side to side to get some of the extra water off his face. In the process he probably hit Averi with a couple flying drops. Not on purpose though. But it made him smile when he looked at her and she had a few wet spots on her face and shirt.

averi tired not to read too much into his quick response, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to tease him about it. averi knew that he didn't love her. no one could. how could it be possible for someone to love someone like her? she was screwed up and she knew it. no one that she knew of viewed love the way she did. no one she knew of was quirky like her. it would have a take someone very special to love her and as of yet, she had not found that person. sure roman could handle her for a couple of hours, but days, weeks, even mouths would probably drive him to the mental institute. she was weird, she knew it, and there was no denying it. she moved her finger around her glass of water as she talked, moving the condensation with her fingertip. she always had to be doing some kind of movement to. she couldn't stay still for too long or it would bother her. so she did little things to help her go day to day living a what some would call, normal life. chewing on her lip was a bad habit, one she had grown accustom to because that meant she was doing something. and anyone who knew her to look for that as a sign as if she's thinking or nervous or bored.
when he didn't say a word about him being in love with her, she let it pass. she wasn't really expecting him to say anything to prove what she said was right or wrong. but it was curious about his reaction to the words. truth be told, averi didn't much believe in love. yeah, sure she loved her mother when she was alive, but that's a different kind of love.all she saw was infatuation, crushes, flings, using, abusing, and fighting all disguised as the word love. people killed for it without truly knowing what it meant or ever feeling it themselves. averi had never felt anything that would lead her to believe it even truly exist, nor has she ever seen it. she watched him as he talked, wondering if any of that was truth. was he really not wanting her to leave because of the waitress? but before she could say anything about it, she heard someone clear their throat too. she had been so lost in her thought process that she hadn't seen the girl come back. she tired not to laugh as she watched her friend get himself in over his head, but even then a smirk played on her lips. this was going to be good.
hearing him try to explain himself reminded her a lot about what guys tried to do when they messed up. she figured that if you were ballsy enough to do or say it, then you should be ballsy enough to except the consequences, whatever they may be. in this case, roman got a face full of water. averi had to admire the approach. it was classic, but it never got old. averi had an amused grin on her face as he waited until the girl was gone before he opened his eyes. she laughed at his words. she tried to shield herself from the water that he flung in her directions, but it was hard when it was everywhere. well, i suppose you got what you deserved. she noted. i probably would have filled up the ice buckets and dumped them out on you. but then again, i don't think it's worth it. she looked at him.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,350,true] | [atrb=background,http://i54.tinypic.com/1twhdz.jpg] Okay, he totally deserved that. But when ever he was down here he was going to have to go over and apologize to the waitress. Usually he was much more of a gentleman and didn’t speak ill of other he didn’t know, but he had needed an answer for her statement about love and that was the only thing he could manage to think of in that moment. He knew that after he said it that something bad was going to happen. Roman felt like a jerk for it. He was raised up better then he had just acted. After his father left for not getting the other son he wanted, it was left up to Rome to be the man of the house. And he treated his sister and mother well, that must have just stuck with him and now he tried to treat ever women with respect.
But that was something to think about. He never told Averi that his father walked out on him, his mother and his sister. And look at him and his family. He was fine and what had happened all those years ago didn’t change his behavior towards other guys. Brown eyes scanned the situation over for a second. No, this was a nice and friendly meeting; a serious matter could be brought up later. But he would have to talk to her about it sometime.
He smiled at her and watched her as she spoke. Pushing a hand up, he ran his fingers through his hair to smooth it back with the water that was already in it. In truth, it had actually been refreshing. Ice, on the other hand, might have actually hurt, not to mention the cubes would slide down his back and chill his spine. Even the thought caused a small shiver on his back. “Yeah, I know, I had that one coming.” Straitening his back to the booth, he looked down at his slightly wet shirt and shrugged to himself. “At least it was just water and not a Coke of something sugary.” He was a slight health guru, he liked the good for you stuff better anyways, but broccoli. He didn’t like that mini green tree vegetable. But, if it had been something other then water, he would want to change his shirt, feeling sticky was something that he didn’t desire.
Roman still felt bad for what he said; he was really going to have to apologize. But he was here with Averi, and that was highest of importance. “Anyways… nothing has really been new with me.” He had remembered that he had never answered her question earlier. “I’m working on a beautiful Mustang in the shop right now. And I’m still trying to fix that old motorcycle; I need to find a few parts before it’s actually finished. Maybe I’ll give you a ride when I’m done with it. You could be the first to ride with me.” A hopeful grin appeared on his face. He was a man that liked cars and motorcycles, sure, but if he had his choice, and he did, he would pick a bike over a four wheeled ride any day. He had even found a skeleton of an old chopper in a junkyard and decided that once he fixed that up, it was going to be his ride. Mostly right now he just walked to places. He didn’t live far from the other stores anyways; his apartment was above his repair shop.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][atrb=style, background-color: #423c42;,true][cs=2] & YOU'RE NOT EVEN HUMAN ` YOU'RE JUST A LOVELY IDEA OF ONE WHO I ACCIDENTALLY LOVED AND GAVE EVERYTHING TO BECOME THE GIRL ON THE PIANO BENCH SINGING ALL OF HER TEARS - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - away | [atrb=width,240] she was sure that he was beating himself over what had just happened, beside thinking it was funny, averi knew it didn't much matter. she's a bitch anyways. she said, trying to make him feel better about it, though it probably didn't. she had done her part, being a friend. she was sure that if she had been a guy, roman would have probably played it off a lot smoother. guys always acted different around fellow guys than they did with girls. it was like they had to prove that they were much more of a dick then the other. they often talked about sleeping around with multiple woman at the same time, how they could get any girl in bed with them and a bunch more pigheaded things. not that averi had a first hand account for this stuff, but she was sure that they did, just by the way they acted when she passed by a group of guys or served them at the restaurant.
averi never told anyone her life story. she was a very private person because she knew if she told anyone anything it would backfire, be thrown back into her face. or, maybe, just maybe, they would see exactly why she was the way she was. no one knew that her father was the one that made her the way she was because she didn't tell them that he left her mother before pregnancy test popped positive.that she grew up watching her mother go from heartbreak to heartbreak, one right after another. all because guys were dicks and they didn't care about anything but using the girl and leaving her broken. averi had vowed never to let herself be in that position. and so far, things had been going her way. had she wanted to scream this out to people, yes, but only to make them leave her alone with the questions. why do you do that averi, why do you do this averi? it was seriously annoying. maybe someday, when she found someone that actually treated her more than trash, she'd tell them her story of how she became the girl who could never love. or be loved for that matter. she'd always push them away before that stage anyways.
she liked how he picked up where they were at before the interruption. it was like it never happened, except it did. his hair and shirt were wet, she even had a few spots on her shirt to prove it as well. but she let him continue, not once interrupting him. she listened to him talk about a car and a bike, nothing a real importance for her, she didn't know anything about cars. but it was handy to have a mechanic as a good friend. if her car was making a weird noise or acted funny, she could always count on roman for good service. she smiled at the thought. maybe she counted on him more than she thought. maybe she trusted him more than she realized. when the subject of her riding on the bike with him after he was done reached her ears, her blue eyes watched him carefully. she had never ridden a bike before. mm i dunno, maybe. she shrugged, not sure if she would or not. it just depended on how she felt that day. what she couldn't keep a secret was how dirty his last sentence came out. she smirked at it, not really knowing if he'd even catch it, so she amused herself with it.
