tear you apartGot a big plan, his mind's set, maybe it's right. At the right place and right time, maybe tonight. In a whisper or handshake sending a sign. Wanna make out and kiss hard, wait never mind. It was fifteen minutes til one. Atticus knew it because the time on his watch was set correctly. He was adamant about being on time everywhere he went. It was how he was raised. His father never raised his son to be late, nor ungentlemanly like. This was why he was now standing at the fountain, waiting for a girl he hardly knew in order to take her to New York with him. Peyton had never been to New York, and his parents lived there. So he had set it up where she would be staying in one of the many guest bedrooms His parents had naturally asked him a million and one questions about her, and he didn’t tell them much of anything. Well, that was because he didn’t know much himself. This was probably the most spontaneous thing he had ever done, take a girl that he barely knew out of the island to meet his parents and see New York. It did kind of sound like a date, but the girl had a boyfriend, and he was trying very hard to make sure no one viewed it as they were dating, though most human beings would.
His bags were already packed in the black town car that was waiting for the both of them. The driver had given atticus a small smirk when he had gotten out and he just rolled his eyes. He was only going to new york this time to see his parents and catch up on some old friends. Atticus had plenty of friends, here in Hawaii and in new york. He was sure that if she didn’t want to hang out with him the whole time, then she would find someone that was well worth the trip to new york for. He had told her that he’d take her on a tour that his father had taken him on. It was several buildings all over new york city that he loved, and he wanted to share that beauty with someone. Hopefully, she would appreciate it. from the way she talked, though, she would. but architecture was tricky, not everyone liked it. it was some type of art and he was an artist. he would show her the buildings he helped his father design. maybe even show her his first sketches when he was fourteen. his father had hen framed in his office at his business.
atticus had known at a very early age that he had a gift. and his father, at a very early age, pushed that gift. both his parents were very proud of him and gave him anything he could ever dream of or want. he was in no need of money because he had it. so it was nice of him to offer this, all expense paid, vacation to peyton. well they were staying at his parents, so it was basically free for him anyways. but he planned on paying for her food and such during her stay because he had invited her and he thought it would be rude if he didn't. he sat on a bench, waiting patiently. it was only a little before one, so she had time. it wasn't like he was in a big hurry anyways. the plane would only leave when they got there, seeing as how it was owned by his father. atticus could almost hear the hustle of new york city and he had realized while he had been talking about it to peyton, how much he missed it.

So she was going to go to New York with some guy that she really didn’t know. Yep, sounded like a good plan to her. Besides Atticus seemed like a nice enough boy, if he was better then her boyfriend and he was, then she would gladly take a vacation with him. She needed a get away anyways. Her classes were a handful, not to mention making her boyfriend happy, and her father as well. For her boyfriend it was easier said then done, dates weren’t really dates anymore they were more like chores. Her father was easier to make smile, all she had to do was tell him what he wanted to hear and it would brighten his mood, though the draw back was that she hated lying to him. So she was going to take a well deserved break with her new friend over to his parents’ house. Anyways, it was New York, she was talking about here, who wouldn’t just want to run away there for awhile? And she would have good company.
Peyton had packed her bag after discussing the plan with Atticus; she defiantly wasn’t going to miss an opportunity like this. She wasn’t the kind of girl to over pack with seven bags, one small one and a medium one would do just as well. The trouble was what to pack, it must have taken her hours before settling and finally fill her bags. She had a dorm room all to herself, and she loved it. So after her classes on Thursday, the girl bolted back to the room and snatched up her bags and placing the small one on top of the larger one and wheeled it quickly outside. With her skills at falling, that probably wasn’t the best choice, because right after she exited the building, the tip of her shoe caught in a crack and she tripped, bobbling her suitcase to see if she could get her balance. None such luck, and she fell, butt first, on a patch of flowers. She sighed as she got up, ignoring a few other kids laughter in the background. Her pants were covered in dirt, and she wasn’t about to travel while wearing dirty clothes. That wouldn’t make her look too good when she actually net Atticus anyways. Tying her hair up, Peyton raced back up to her dorm and changed in to a nice pair of skinny jeans.
Back outside, she grabbed her bags again and smiled out over the campus. As she headed for the fountain, her mind flew to all the fun things she could do. They had planned a tour, something she was thankful for, and then going around and seeing some of the buildings that were an architect’s heaven. Honestly she didn’t mind looking at the art in a design of how something was built, it was just as much her trip as it was his. Then the park idea had been introduced, which made it sound like a date, but she knew it wasn’t. After all she was already taken. Her boyfriend would be super jealous if he knew what she was doing, but she had told him it was just a get away with a few of her other friends, not just one random guy that she had just met. She moved one of her hands to subconsciously rub her wrists and frowned through her excited mood. But then her pale eyes caught sight of a figure standing next to the fountain with a car near by. Atticus, New York, vacation. All of her happy thoughts rushed to the front of her brain again and she smiled widely as she made her way over to him. “Hi…” Her hand released her bags and she looked at the black car then at him in front of her then at her bags. “I’m Peyton, obviously, it’s nice to see you in person.” A smile and an outstretched hand were offered to him as she was just managing to keep still from all of her excitement.

tear you apartGot a big plan, his mind's set, maybe it's right. At the right place and right time, maybe tonight. In a whisper or handshake sending a sign. Wanna make out and kiss hard, wait never mind. New york was a place that Atticus knew all to well. He grew up there. All eighteen years and sure he had a slight new york accent, but he had nothing of the normal new york attitude. He was unlike most of his friends. He was sweet and kind and would help pretty much anyone when they needed it. That was how he had gotten burned many times with people taking advantage of his kindness, but it never stopped him. Because one day, what he did to help people would matter to someone enough where they would actually be grateful. But he wasn’t going to hold his breathe. Atticus had moved up to Hawaii for his college experience, he needed warmer climate and this was where they had the one of the best architect program. His father had wanted him to stick close to new york in order he needed him at the office, but atticus needed a breath of fresh air. He visited them a lot though because his father wanted it and his mother couldn’t get enough of him. He was the only child and was spoilt. He got everything he ever wanted when he was younger, his mother made sure he did. His father made sure his schooling was the best which was why he went to a private boarding school. Got straight a’s and even got accepted into college a year early to all the ivy league schools. Atticus was privileged, though he hardly let any one know about it because they tend to use him for it.
So he didn’t know this girl, but it didn’t mean that they weren’t going to have fun. It seemed like they hit off rather well. But then again, it had only been a conversation for about thirty minutes. he could get along with most anyone. And peyton seemed like a cool girl, though he was still a little apprehensive about her having a boyfriend and him finding out that she was going, alone, to new york with a guy that she barely knew. He’d be a little jealous, though he’d probably would have just let her do it, giving her the benefit of the doubt. But then again, atticus had been described as being too trusting. And that was why he had been easily brokenhearted. Though it may seem like he was a little pathetic, he isn’t. he can hold his own in a fight, he can be tough when he wants to be, but most of the time he was just generous and kind and avoided as many fights as he could. Which was why he was still a little uneasy about taking a girl that had a boyfriend that didn’t know him.
A girl was walking towards him and he smiled. This must be peyton. Hi. He smiled brightly. He shook her hand. I’m atticus. He smiled, dropping his hand to his side. So, let’s get your bags in the car and we can be off to the airport. He took her bags and headed for the car. The driver had the door open before they reached the car and Atticus put her bags in the waiting open trunk. Thank god she wasn’t those types of girls where he had to fill up the whole trunk and the front seat with just her bags. Just two. He shut the trunk and then walked to the door, sliding in after her and shut the door. He watched as the driver walked back around the car and got in. Atticus was used to having himself be driven around, but he wasn’t too sure about peyton. So, are you excited for your first trip to new york? He asked, smiling over at her.

Impulsive things were just her style. Most of her friends could get her to do anything on a whim, and truthfully she found life like that very fun and enjoyable. But she did think at least a little bit before totally jumping into things. She liked having a boyfriend for reason that she could use it as an excuse. Plus it probably made Atticus feel a little more secure. Peyton was a faithful girl, so she wouldn’t go around snatching up guys behind her boyfriend’s back. Especially not behind her current boyfriend’s back, because if he found out she was stuck. Though, she didn’t want to be faithful with him, and she hadn’t the heart to break it off with him because there was really no place to hide from him afterwards. So she was sacred some, but she did still like him in his good moments. Was that possible, to love and be afraid of the same person? Well, it shouldn’t be.
She really didn’t know how to start the conversations so that’s why she just put her hand out and introduced herself. When he replied and didn’t leave her hand just hanging there she sighed inwardly and smiled brighter at him. Her eyes flicked to her bags when he mentioned putting them in the car. Peyton just nodded blankly and watched him, a bit shocked to ask if he needed any help. She was accustom to having to do things herself and not getting help from anyone. Whether that was during her classes because she had to prove that female doctors were just as good or if that was with her boyfriend. But it was good to know that there were still gentlemen out there. She tucked some of the loose strands of dark hair behind her ear and then turned toward the door. Reaching out she grabbed it and tried to pull it open, but it failed the first time. Her face grew frustrated and she tugged on it again this time harder and ended up tumbling over her feet as the door flew open. She had her balance though and she smiled in embarrassment as she slid over to the far seat and looked out the window. It was different, having a third person around just for driving the car. But that’s what you got when you dad was the CEO of some popular company.
At his words, she turned and looked over at him, a grin growing over her lips. “Yeah, I’m more then excited. Not just for New York either, but for the plane right too. This will be my first time flying you know.” She pulled her hair over one of her shoulders and ran her fingers through it before gliding the hair tie out of it and shaking her head some to fluffy out her hair. Mixed emotions started to settle about the trip. Looking at Atticus, she lightly bit her lip, questioning if she should ask him. “It’s normal to be a bit nervous right? I mean this is going to be my first out of state trip and maybe my expectations are way too high. But nervous is normal right?” She hoped that it was. Gosh, to him she probably seemed like a little girl about all this, not like meant to seem like one. In fact with all her talking, she was probably making him rethink taking her. A sweet small smile curled at her lips as she looked at him.

tear you apartGot a big plan, his mind's set, maybe it's right. At the right place and right time, maybe tonight. In a whisper or handshake sending a sign. Wanna make out and kiss hard, wait never mind. Atticus didn’t know Peyton’s boyfriend. And he was going to try to keep it that way. He didn’t need some guy trying to beat him up for taking his girlfriend to New York. It wasn’t like they were staying in the same room or bed. They were going to stay at his parented house, in separate bedrooms and there was no way to try anything thing like that with his parents around. Atticus was there only child. ‘A precious gift of life.’ His mom would always say because the doctor had told her that it was a miracle that she was pregnant. She wasn’t suppose to have children. And though there had been some complications within the pregnancy, he had been born a month early, but in good shape. His parents, especially his mother, made sure that he had everything he ever wanted or needed. Now that he was twenty one, he still got pretty much anything he ever wanted and needed. And over all, he had a pretty descent life. He had a few broken hearts, but that was mendable and he hadn’t lost hope on relationships. Most girls liked to take advantage of him because he was so nice and caring and rich. It was hard to tell who really liked him for him and who liked him because they could get expensive presents.
Getting the girls bags were just something he did. It was part of him being a gentleman. He realized that having someone drive them to the airport was hardly normal for Peyton, but it was for him. He rarely drove anywhere himself because he had people to do that for him. His father had insisted on buying or renting him a house here on the island while he went to school, but Atticus had put his foot down on that one. He was living in a dorm room. It was cheaper and he could also socialize with more people his own age. He looked at her astonished that this was her first plane ride. But then again, it shouldn’t surprise him because she did say she had never been off the island. He was glad to give her this opportunity. He chuckled a little at her question. He nodded. Yes, its okay to be nervous. But I promise the pilot is one hundred percent safe. So it will just be me and you, the flight attendant, and the pilot and co-pilot. Not a big deal. He smiled. He wasn’t nervous because he had flown a lot. It was part of his father’s business and a part of his life in general. He loved to travel and he didn’t mind that plane rides. It was the boat rides that got to him. It always made him sick so he just avoided boats as much as possible. Even on his dad’s yacht, he couldn’t handle it. It was too bad really, that yacht was a good size. And could be great for large parties. They had been moving without him really noticing it, so when the driver stopped and announced that they were at the airport, it came as a shock really. He smiled, however, opening the door, and holding it open for her to get out on his side. He supposed he could have left her out on the other side, but he was just used to it this way. Once she was out, he shut the door. He smiled at two men were taking their bags and putting them on the private plane that his father had. He looked over at Peyton with his gentlemanly smile. Ready? I promise I’ll be right here if you need me. He smiled, walking with her to the steps, letting her go first up into the cabin of the plane. It was very laid back and the soft leather chairs were very comfortable. He only hoped that it would calm Peyton’s nerves.

First, a driver to drive them around and now he was talking about a private plane. Damn, Atticus could really treat a girl couldn’t he? But it was his family’s money and they could do with it what they wanted, and clearly they wanted luxury. Peyton blinked at him in awe but quick closed her mouth and gave a pleasant smile before tearing her gaze from his and looking out the car’s window. Good thing it was out to be nervous because her blood pressure was soaring now. She bit her lip, the excitement was still there though, it wasn’t hidden under her other emotions, nothing could dampen her trip experience. She felt the car park and he looked around through the windows. Times flies when you’re thinking over some random family’s wealth, doesn’t it? Her hand reached for the inside handle but the second her fingers touched it, it opened. Sliding out of the seat, she inhaled as he stood up, his blue eyes roaming around the private airport. A hint of flush creep up on her cheeks as she heard his statement, she was still new to the how treat a lady right gesture and now Atticus as saying that he was there for her. And to think, her first time flying and traveling and it would be done with an expensive plane with servants. Peyton grinned to herself, how lucky was she?
When she boarded the plane and it took off, most of her time was devoted to looking out the window and watching the world below her pass by. She was really in the air flying. Turing her head, she looked over at her travel host and smiled widely, mouthing a quick thank you before returning her attention back to the small porthole. It wasn’t like she could see much, the clouds that they flew through blocked any real view, but she was still captivated. Later she shifted in her seat and cushioned herself against the soft padding that the seats offered. Sleep came quite easy after that, though she hadn’t thought she was tired until she reasoned with herself to catch a few Zs and relaxed back in the chair. They hadn’t even touched down in New York and the medical student loved the trip already.
Thankfully she woke up moments before they did land; it was a bit rough and probably would have freaked her out if she had been sleeping. She smoothed her slight bed head hair out just by running her hands through it. When it was alright o get off, Peyton stood and stretched, covering a yawn and exited the plane. Another car was waiting for them, bags already in the trunk, not too surprising. Peyton casually leaned against the side and looked at Atticus, letting the first off Hawaii breeze swept around her, with her eyes closed to enjoy the moment. “Are we headed to your parent’s house now? I would really love to see it.” Her blue eyes sparkled at the delight of finally being in New York. She was going to need to freshen up before a tour officially started. “And, I want to get settled and take a shower before sight seeing.” She nodded, more to herself then him. But, as pay back, the next thing she did was swing the car door open and gesture at him, a playful smirk teasing her expression. “After you.” She rocked back on her heels as she waited for him to slide into the car first. She wasn’t going to let him be the only one with manners. So after he got in, because there was no way she was going to let him go in after her, she giggled and hopped in the seat next to him.

tear you apartGot a big plan, his mind's set, maybe it's right. At the right place and right time, maybe tonight. In a whisper or handshake sending a sign. Wanna make out and kiss hard, wait never mind. Atticus parents weren’t afraid to give their only son money, or spend it on him. That was why he always had the best of everything. He probably got his idea of treating his girlfriends like princesses from his father because he treated his wife the same way. This was the reason why he couldn’t be sure if any girl liked him just for the money or actually liked him for him. But he always gave everyone at least once chance because that was how he was. Their car ride to the plane was quiet, and the walk to the plane was quiet too. Atticus knew that Peyton was scared, but he hoped that she’d be okay once she got up in the air. The landing was always the worst part, but he wasn’t going to tell her that. She seemed nervous enough already without him making it worse. Peyton was lucky that Atticus was a generous guy and also was a sucker for giving in to someone’s dreams. When he heard that she had always wanted to go to New York, he couldn’t help but to make it possible because he knew he could. Nice guy, that Atticus was.
Once they were on the plane, he had a brief conversation with the pilot, laughing a little and asking about his family before joining Peyton in the comfortable leather sits that they would be in for the remainder of the flight. The attendant asked if they needed anything. And he ordered some water and nodded toward Peyton. Get whatever you like. He smiled warmly, and then leaned back against his seat. He was very familiar with these plane rides, so it was nothing to him. Atticus gave her a small nod when she mouthed a thank you. It was nice to be thanked sometimes, because a lot of the time, people took him for granted. Peyton, however, didn’t seem like that type of girl. Bringing him his water and whatever Peyton had asked for a moment later, the plane took off. Once they were in the air, Atticus got comfortable, looking over to see how she was doing. She seemed like she was in good spirits, so the plane right hadn’t done her in, in fact, she looked like she was falling asleep. He gave an inward chuckle as he laid back, closing his eyes briefly. They were in New York before he knew it and he went to wake Peyton up before they landed. Looking over at her though, he realized she was already awake.
When they got out of the plane, the car was waiting for them like his father had mentioned on his phone call before he met with Peyton at the fountain at the college. Yeah, I thought we would, so we can freshen up. I think my parents want us to stay for dinner. So we can go out afterwards if you like. Enjoy the city at night. He suggested, as he slide into the seat in the car. Once she was in, the door was shut and they were off to his parents house. Okay. I also need to warn you that my parents think that we’re more than friends. They really don’t believe I would just bring a girl who is a friend all the way to New York. I also felt it necessary not to tell them that we really haven’t known each other that long either. He felt like it was good to warn her because his parents could be unable at times – very stubborn. Especially his mother when she thought that this girl might be the one for her baby boy. A very short time later they were pulling up to the gate to their property. Last chance to change your mind. He chuckled, as the car drove slowly down the driveway, parking in front of the big wooden doors of the Garner estate.

New York City at night. Now that was a sight to behold. Peyton had only seem the city on postcards and internet images, but now she was actually on New York soil and going to get a tour of the wonderful place. Well wonderful if you ignore all the traffic, honking and pollution. She smiled when he confirmed that they would be heading back to the house first, dinner included. It was a good thought, and really sweet of his parents, though they were playing the hosts that is. But it was nice, dinner and time to settle herself into the guest room would help her calm down and bundle down her excitement a bit more, she didn’t want to come off and wild or out of control. She could be a nice house guest, and if she did get a little out of hand, she was a good enough liar so she could cover well. The girl was usually truthful, just when it came to her father did she usually tell half truths or straight out lie to his face. She didn’t like it and it made her feel guilty every time she did, but she would rather lie and see him happy then hate her for what the truth was. The man had enough worry in his life from her mother.
She sat in the and again her eyes were out the window, looking over every interesting building or plant she saw. Only when Atticus spoke again did she turn her head back at him and tilt her head slight in a bit of shock and confusion. So now, to his parents, they were more then friends. She draped her blue eyes over him and pondered the idea for a moment. It could happen, she would admit to him being attractive, and he was really nice toward a girl, if it wasn’t for her current taken status she could see them as a couple. But now it had her mind wandering to things like how he looked shirtless or where he would take her on a first date, and even how he kissed. Peyton giggled at her thoughts, oh that would be something to see, him and her together after just meeting each other. Apparently, though, Atticus’s parents were steadfast in their view on their son’s relationship with her. When the gates to a rather large property caught her eye, she was looking back out of the window, gawking over the size of the house. “It’s intimidating, but I’ve never been a girl to shy away from something.” As the car pulled up to the front of the house, she could see his mom and dad come out side, waiting to greet them.
The driver came around and opened her door and she slid out, smiling and waving politely to the couple at the door. It would be a pain to try and convince then that she and their son were just friends. It seemed like they had big expectations of her. With her bags in hand, she looked over at Atticus and grinned to herself, might as well give them what they thought the two shared. With her free hand she slipped it into his and laced her fingers with his before pressing up on her tip toes and gently brushing her lips to his cheek. His mom and dad were watching them after all, might as well give them a short show of a good girlfriend. “Come on baby, how about you introduce me to your parents.” She winked and giggled before playfully tugging him toward the steps of the house. Peyton didn’t mind playing the part of a girlfriend, she had experience. Though, she probably could have told Atticus about the plan before just spring it on him, poor guy was probably dumbfounded right now. She flicked her gaze to his parents and smiled brightly, leaning lightly against Atticus’s side. “Hello, it’s nice to meet you two, finally.” Her eyes rolled lightheartedly when she said finally but she continued, “I’ve heard so many good things.”

tear you apartGot a big plan, his mind's set, maybe it's right. At the right place and right time, maybe tonight. In a whisper or handshake sending a sign. Wanna make out and kiss hard, wait never mind. Obviously, his warning about his parents had been lost on her. All Peyton commented on was how intimidating the house looked. Atticus hoped that she didn’t think the same things about his parents. His father was a real hard ass about things sometimes, especially the girls that he brought home to meet them. He took everything serious, Atticus supposed that this was due to the fact that he owned his own company and he needed to take it seriously. This was why his parents didn’t want to listen when he had told them that Peyton was only a friend. His father felt like it was a waste of time just bringing a ‘friend’ over to his house to meet the parents. And in all honesty, Atticus saw his point. It would have been different if the girl was from New York, and they had just driven to the house. But she was coming from Hawaii, they had flown together, and in his parents mind, this she was his girlfriend and a pretty serious one at that. The whole trip would be about them trying to convince them that they were just friends. Maybe it would have helped if he had mentioned to them that she had a boyfriend back in Hawaii, who may or may not know that she went off with some strnge guy to New York to stay with his parents who thought she was his girlfriend. Knowing his mother, she had probably picked out the china dishes she was going to get them for their wedding and the first outfit their son or daughter would be brought home in. his mother really wanted him to settle down, to find the right girl. And while he agreed with her, he also was only twenty one and plenty of time to figure that out.
His parents had come out to meet them. Great, he hadn’t got to talk to her as much as he would have liked to about his parents before she met them. Hopefully all of them would play nice. When she slid out of the car, he followed, shutting it when he stood outside. The sun was shining brightly and he could see the glitter of the marble, just inside the door, of the floor. They had maids to clean the house, a gardener to keep the gardens and lawn trimmed and neat, and a butler to do whatever else needed to be done, not to mention the driver, cook, and other miscellaneous help that his parents had hired. Atticus was too busy trying to get to his bags to notices Peyton’s grin until it was too late and he felt her fingers intertwine with his. What was she doing? His eyes widened when she pressed her lips to his cheek. Had she just kissed him on the cheek? What for? This was not going to convince his father and mother that they were just friends, in fact, it was quiet the opposite. What...but his words were lost when she begun to speak. He followed her, dazed by what events had just transpired. Atticus probably had this really dumbfounded look on his face, but she had really taken him by surprise. What was she thinking? His parents were really going to hate it when they found out the truth. That they weren’t really dating and it all had been a misunderstanding. And she wasn’t helping the situation much either by playing up to it. But he could see another side of it too. His parents wouldn’t stop bugging them until they came clean so they might as well play the parts. After all, it was a one time thing, wasn’t it? His parents would probably never see Peyton again, and so what was one time going to hurt? He could always, ‘break up’ with her at some point in the trip if it got to weird or something.
Once they had reached his parents, he noticed his mother was smiling, his father, not so much. Uh, Peyton. This is my mother and father. His mother was the first to speak up. Please, just call me Athena. This is Richard, Atticus’ father. We are very happy to welcome you into our home. Come in. you must be exhausted from the trip. She smiled, pulling Peyton into a friendly hug, before letting her go and giving his father a stern look before she half turned to let the two walk into the house. And sweetie, leave your bags. Gerald will get them and put them in your room for you. She gave Peyton a sweet smile. Richard introduced himself briefly to Peyton, gave his son a small look and fell strangely quiet. Something must be up with the company. Atticus would hear about it later.
